As enterprises scale their use of AI, many continue to face challenges translating promising pilots into production deployments because off-the-shelf solutions do not always meet their specific business needs. To address this challenge, RE:AI, the sovereign AI cloud business of Singtel Digital InfraCo, and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) signed a memorandum of understanding to help enterprises advance the deployment of AI solutions while strengthening Singapore’s applied AI talent pipeline.

Through the partnership, enterprises participating in the Digital InfraCo’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Applied AI with NVIDIA will collaborate with SIT students, researchers from the SIT x NVIDIA AI Technology Centre (SNAIC) and the NVIDIA AI Technology Centre (NVAITC) to develop AI applications for industry use cases.

Enterprises and government agencies will be able to co-create purpose-built AI solutions, leveraging RE:AI’s sovereign AI cloud infrastructure and network of technology partners with SNAIC’s applied research expertise, industry collaborations and AI education capabilities. Officially opened in October 2025, SNAIC is a joint initiative between SIT and NVIDIA AI Technology Centre that supports AI adoption across Singapore’s wider ecosystem through applied research and close engagement with industry.

To complement these efforts, RE:AI will host an advanced AI testbed at SIT’s campus in the Punggol Digital District, powered by NVIDIA GPU infrastructure and AI solutions. This will provide a shared environment where enterprises, researchers and students can co-develop and validate AI applications before deployment, helping to shorten the path from pilot projects to production-ready solutions.

Mr Manoj Prasanna Kumar, Chief Technology & Information Officer, Singtel Digital InfraCo, said, “This partnership leverages the strengths of industry, academia and digital infrastructure to form an AI innovation ecosystem that accelerates enterprises’ AI transformation journey from research to production deployment. RE:AI's trusted infrastructure and network of technology partners are key to enabling enterprises, researchers and students to develop, test and scale AI applications more quickly and confidently. By helping enterprises and government agencies harness AI’s potential, we are strengthening Singapore's position as a leading AI innovation hub and advancing its Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2030 priorities in AI, talent development and innovation.”

Through SIT's applied learning model and SNAIC's research capabilities, enterprises will have opportunities to work alongside multidisciplinary teams comprising faculty, researchers, postgraduate talent and undergraduate students who will contribute their expertise to these projects. This gives enterprises access to applied research capabilities and emerging AI talent to help bring AI solutions into production. Students and researchers, in turn, gain hands-on experience solving enterprise AI use cases, strengthening Singapore's pipeline of AI practitioners and supporting the objectives of the National AI Strategy 2.0.

Professor Susanna Leong, Deputy President (Academic) & Provost, SIT, said, “As the University for Industry, SIT is committed to translating applied learning and research into tangible outcomes for industry. Through SNAIC, we work closely with industry to co-develop solutions to real-world challenges and accelerate talent development in applied AI. This partnership with RE:AI will create valuable opportunities for our students and academic staff to tackle complex business issues, gaining hands-on experience in applying AI to solve practical problems.”

“Singapore has a world-class community of researchers, students and innovators ready to turn AI into impact,” said Mr Marc Hamilton, vice president of solutions architecture and engineering at NVIDIA. “By bringing together Singtel’s sovereign AI cloud, SIT’s applied research and NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform and expertise, this collaboration will help enterprises translate applied AI research into real-world solutions, while equipping students and researchers with the skills and experience to contribute to Singapore’s growing AI ecosystem.”

Early projects supported by SNAIC demonstrate how AI can be translated into real-world solutions. One such example is SNAIC’s collaboration with SMRT on two projects, GENESIS and AiDiSA.  Please refer to the Appendix below for more information.

 APPENDIX

As SMRT deals with many safety-critical operations, GENESIS (Generative AI Aided Safety Investigation System) was jointly developed to automate the process of safety reporting and investigation. Instead of manually searching through past records, SMRT staff can quickly access relevant incident histories, rulebook-based guidance and potential mitigation measures, enabling a more consistent reporting and investigation process.

Another solution developed through the collaboration is the AI-Driven Intelligent Situation Awareness System (AiDiSA). AiDiSA helps SMRT better manage and respond to commuter feedback. By analysing feedback from selected sources, it provides insights into public sentiment, automatically classifies and routes cases according to severity and urgency, and alerts teams to potential issues that may require closer attention.
