My family was concerned about the school fees and daily allowance I would need during my studies on top of our household expenses. With the financial aid, I was able to focus on my studies and spend more time with my family.

Year 1, Computer Science

With the COVID-19 pandemic, my father who was working as a private-hire driver, saw his earnings dip. I started working to help with the family expenses. The Tuition Fee Loan and SIT Study loan lightened my financial burden and also provided me with a living allowance. I am also very grateful for receiving the Higher Education Community Bursary and Conrac Asia Display Products Bursary. With the financial aid, I did not have to work and study at the same time and was able to devote my full attention to my studies.

Year 1, Air Transport Management

Being the first in my family to attend university, I selected SIT because of my prior course of study at Temasek Polytechnic, where I studied Aviation Management and Services. My internship piqued my interest in the aviation industry, which I find fun and challenging. I was keen to continue my studies in this field but I was concerned with the finances for university education. My father suffered a stroke two years ago and was unable to continue working. This placed a significant financial strain on my family. Prior to enrolling in SIT and getting financial help, I had always take part-time jobs to pay for my studies. The financial aid available at SIT has allowed me to focus more on my studies and has taken the weight off my shoulders.
