SITizen Run 2026: Going the Distance for SITizens
From virtual runs to scenic routes at SIT Punggol Campus, SITizen Run 2026 rallied the community in support of the SIT Bursary – with some participants clocking more than 200km during the event.
The second edition of SITizen Run saw the SIT community and members of the public coming together over 29 January to 9 February 2026 – logging kilometres virtually before gathering at the SIT Punggol Campus on 7 February for the physical 5km and 10km runs. Whether online or on campus, the run fostered a shared sense of purpose in support of a meaningful cause.
Co-organised by the SIT Advancement Office (AO) and the Office of SITizen Experience (OSE), and supported by the SIT Running Club, the initiative saw almost 520 participants collectively clock more than 9,500km over the course of the event. Among the avid runners was Mr Ronnie Tay, Deputy President (Administration) & Chief Financial Officer of SIT, who gave the opening remarks before the start of the physical race.
Together, participants and supporters raised over $21,000 for the SIT Bursary, with 100% of donations and registration fees from the event going directly to supporting students in need.
The physical run was fully subscribed, reflecting strong enthusiasm from the community. SIT extends its appreciation to all participants, donors, sponsors and supporters whose contributions made this possible.
Immersing in One of Singapore’s Most Scenic Routes
Race day offered more than just a run. Participants enjoyed a refreshing morning along a scenic route spanning the Punggol Heritage Trail, Punggol Park Connector and Punggol Promenade Nature Walk, with views overlooking Coney Island.
For some, SITizen Run 2026 was also a shared family experience. Dr Kate Zhou, a faculty member in SIT’s Engineering cluster, joined the run with her parents, who were visiting her in Singapore from overseas.
"It’s a wonderful event. I felt very comfortable and the environment was beautiful. The blue skies and white clouds made the experience even more memorable," shared Mrs Zhou, Dr Zhou’s mother.

The Camaraderie Powering the Event
Beyond the race itself, SITizen Run 2026 was powered by a sense of camaraderie – both on the course and behind the scenes.
Members of the SIT Running Club worked closely with the organising team to plan the race routes and water points, and supported race-day activities, including leading warm-up sessions and engaging participants on site.
“Being involved in the planning and execution of the run was a valuable experience. We learnt how to organise events more effectively and communicate better with different teams,” shared Anthony Lum, Vice President (Training) of the SIT Running Club and a Year 2 Computer Engineering student.
After crossing the finish line, participants gathered at the carnival area to unwind with snacks, games and activities while awaiting the announcement of the race winners and lucky draw prizes.
Engagement and Giving Beyond the Run
The spirit of SITizen Run 2026 extended well beyond race day. The event also featured a range of online gamification challenges, adding further engagement for those taking part virtually.
These included OTi’s Punggol Time Quest Challenge, the SITizen Run Instagram Contest, and the Virtual Run Milestone Challenges, where distances logged earned participants digital medals.
Lucky draw prizes and carnival activities also added to the lively atmosphere during the physical event, creating a fun and memorable experience for the community – all while supporting a meaningful cause.
