Statistics and Data Analytics

IMC6101

This module consolidates the knowledge gained from previous studies in mathematics, computer programming and engineering applications to impart further skills in statistics and data analytics. The structure of the module is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the application of descriptive and inferential statistics to extract critical information from data sets. This information is important as it enables the students to understand, interpret and most importantly, make statistically significant conclusion of the data sets by presenting them in simple and understandable diagrams, graphs and/or tables. The second part of this module extends this exercise by utilizing analytical methods to (1) find relationships or clusters among different data sets and (2) develop different types of data-driven time series models that can be used for time-ahead predictions.
