Honouring Partnership and Progress: SIT Punggol Campus Officially Opens
With the inauguration of its Punggol Campus, SIT honours the generosity of donors whose contributions have shaped Singapore’s applied learning landscape and empowered the university’s mission of innovation and impact.

The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) marked a significant milestone with the opening of its Punggol Campus on 16 September 2025. The event was graced by Guest-of-Honour Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, alongside Minister for Education Desmond Lee.
Opening the ceremony, SIT President Professor Chua Kee Chaing remarked, “The SIT Punggol Campus is more than a new home – it is a platform to advance applied learning, innovation, and skills recognition. By bringing industry, community, and academia together in one integrated precinct, we are helping Singapore build a future-ready workforce and drive innovation that benefits both the economy and society. This campus reflects SIT’s commitment to preparing our students not just for their first job, but for lifelong growth and impact. By deepening our focus on research-driven solutions and fostering a culture of innovation, we are equipping our community with the tools and skills to address real-world challenges, and to lead transformative change in industry and society.”
The event was attended by stakeholders, including philanthropic partners, with SIT paying tribute to benefactors whose generous support helped bring the new campus to life. Their contributions enabled named facilities dedicated to education and research, reinforcing SIT’s role as Singapore’s premier university of applied learning.
Ten esteemed individuals and organisations – The Ngee Ann Kongsi, Mr Kwek Leng Beng and City Developments Limited, Ho Bee Land, OCBC, Estate of Eng Liat Kiang, Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan, Mrs Wong-Mah Jia Lan, Diana Koh Foundation, Foundation of Rotary Clubs Singapore, and AM Family Capital Foundation – were recognised for their philanthropic support towards named facilities at SIT Punggol Campus. As a token of appreciation, each received an exclusive hand-drawn silk scarf depicting the new campus, presented by Prof Chua and Mr Bill Chang, Chairman for SIT Board of Trustees.
In his address, Prime Minister Wong said, “It has been a labour of love for all of you – the architects, the consultants, the project managers, the contractors, of course we also appreciate our donors and supporters, who are here today. All of you made this SIT campus in Punggol come to life. So thank you very much for your contribution.”

Mr Kwek Leng Beng, Executive Chairman, Hong Leong Group Singapore and City Developments Limited (CDL), said, “My heartfelt congratulations to SIT on the opening of its new Punggol Campus. With its unique location in the heart of Punggol Digital District, the campus enables students to engage closely with industry, turning education and research into practical solutions that benefit both business and society. Together with CDL, I am honoured to support this vision and to help empower students to reach their fullest potential and make a meaningful impact in Singapore and beyond.”
Mr Kwek and CDL were recognised for the Kwek Leng Beng University Tower, an iconic building located at Campus Court that serves as the administrative heart of SIT. Beyond its function, the University Tower is envisioned as a bold architectural landmark within the Punggol Digital District, symbolising SIT’s aspirations and its role in shaping Singapore’s future workforce.

Mr Nicholas Chua (right), Chief Executive Officer, Ho Bee Land, said, “Ho Bee Land and Chua Foundation are proud to be the first donors to the SIT Punggol Campus, reflecting our enduring belief in the power of education to transform lives. We are delighted that the Ho Bee Auditorium and Discovery Hub will be a vibrant space for learning and collaboration. We look forward to SIT nurturing future leaders and innovators who will lead with skill, character, and a spirit of service to contribute to the progress of our society.”
Named in recognition of contributions from Dr Chua Thian Poh and Ho Bee Land, the Chua Thian Poh Discovery Hub is a vibrant space designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and presentation skills. Meanwhile, the Ho Bee Auditorium, which offers panoramic views of the Serangoon Reservoir and Coney Island, serves as a premier venue for teaching and hosting university events and functions.

Mr Tan Teck Long (right), Deputy CEO, OCBC, said, "Our partnership with the university, with which we will be neighbours when we move into OCBC Punggol in 2027, is anchored in our shared goals to strive for innovation, technological advancement, and community development. The OCBC Analytics and Innovation Lab at SIT Punggol Campus epitomises this vision. It will not only serve as a hub for students and faculty members to gain hands-on experience with financial analysis tools and the creation of fintech AI applications but also host educational outreach programmes such as workshops on financial literacy, financial planning, and retirement planning for the wider Punggol community."
Representing OCBC, Mr Tan was recognised for the OCBC Analytics and Innovation Lab, a state-of-the-art facility equipped with 32 Bloomberg terminals – making it the largest of its kind in Asia’s higher education landscape. The lab has the capacity to accommodate up to 100 terminals.

Located within JTC’s Punggol Digital District (PDD), the SIT Punggol Campus is designed as a dynamic living lab where academia, industry, and community converge, collaborate, and innovate. Its teaching and research facilities and advanced digital infrastructure provide authentic, real-world learning experiences for SIT students, while accelerating the translation of ideas into market-ready solutions.
This new chapter for SIT is a testament to the power of shared vision and collaboration. With the commitment of donors who have supported students’ educational journeys, faculty development, applied research as well as campus infrastructure, SIT is paving the way to make a lasting impact on Singapore and beyond.
