Henry HL Kwee Scholarship

The Henry HL Kwee Scholarship was established to nurture deserving students pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree programme at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT).

Eligibility:

  • Pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree programme offered by the Institute 
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents 

  • Have achieved good academic results 

  • Have a good record in volunteering 

  • Preference will be given to students with a household Per Capita Income (PCI) that satisfies the Institute’s criteria for financial assistance 

  • Preference will be given to students who are deemed by the Institute as more financially needy and who are in danger of withdrawing/deferring from their studies due to financial difficulties 

  • Preference will be given to financially disadvantaged Malay students

Tenure and Benefits of the Scholarship:

  • Each Scholarship, valued at $10,000, is applicable for one (1) academic year. 
  • The Scholarship shall be used for the recipients' educational expenses such as tuition fees, course materials, expenses for regional immersion programme conducted by the Institute, and fees for other educational activities organised by the Institute. 

  • Recipients of this Scholarship may continue to receive this scholarship in a subsequent year of study, provided that good academic results are maintained, and with the recommendation of the Institute and the selection by the Selection Committee.

About the Donor

The late Mr Henry HL Kwee was born in Yuxi Town, Fuqing City, Fujian Province, China, and emigrated to Singapore in 1958. He set up Pontiac Shirts Private Limited which operated out of a small factory on Little Road. During Confrontasi, Mr Kwee decided to start a new business building small but high-quality developments. Thus, the Pontiac Land Group was founded in 1961. 

The Scholarship was set up in 2018 in loving memory of Mr Kwee, who passed away in 1988. The Henry HL Kwee Scholarship, previously known as The Abang Scholarship, is made possible by Mr Kwee Liong Keng, Mr Henry Kwee’s eldest son who would like to continue his father's legacy of nurturing the next generation of lifelong learners.

How To Apply

Applications for Public Bursaries, Donated Bursaries & Scholarships will commence in July 2022. Do keep a look out for more information which will be sent to your SIT e-mail address.

Matriculated students may access the online application form via the SIT Student Intranet - IN4SIT.

Applicants will need to complete and submit the online application form after uploading all required supporting documents through the application portal by the given deadline. Scholarship applicants are expected to upload an endorsed Letter of Recommendation and their SIT Record of Achievement (where applicable).
