About the Donor

The Bursary is made possible by a gift from Dr Ang Poon Liat, who wishes to encourage Nursing students and Dietetics and Nutrition students at SIT who will occupy a critical role in aiding recovery and extending health span and lifespan of their patients once they graduate.

Dr Ang previously served as a senior consultant paediatrician with over 45 years of paediatric practice, and as founder and chairman of the specialist Thomson Paediatric group practice based at Thomson Medical Centre since its inception in 1978. He is now retired and spends time giving public lectures on medical nutrition.

Dr Ang wrote a set of two books which was launched in 2015 - The first book is “The Wonders of Nutrition” and the second is “The Roadmaps to Recovery”. Written with a social agenda to improve people’s knowledge of good nutrition and arm them with the practical skill to “use good food as medicine”. His primary purpose is to prevent people from suffering chronic degenerative diseases, which are responsible for our rising healthspan world-wide. The 2nd book provides roadmaps for recovery from major epidemics of chronic degenerative diseases, such as obesity and diabetes, heart attacks and strokes, dementia and Alzheimer’s diseases, and cancer. Dr Ang’s aim is that everyone should enjoy healthy longevity.
