Who We Are
With a unique pedagogy that integrates work and study, the degree programmes feature the signature Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP) that exemplifies the best of university-industry collaboration. Students are immersed in the real working world for up to 12 months, allowing them to gain practical job skills and be work-ready.
As part of the applied learning curriculum, applied research is weaved into students’ learning experience, where they work on real industry problems and create solutions to meet industry needs. By working closely with the industry, students gain insights and emerge as deep specialists in their chosen fields.
Established in 2009 and gazetted as an autonomous university in 2014, SIT currently has six distributed campuses, with its main campus in SIT@Dover. The future campus will be part of the Punggol Digital District that will feature a fit-for-purpose campus where the reimagining of higher education can take place within a community setting.
The university advocates the work-learn continuum and strives to instil within its students a culture of lifelong learning and continuous upskilling and reskilling. SIT also aims to cultivate in its students four distinctive traits that form the SIT-DNA: Thinking Tinkerers; Able to Learn, Unlearn and Relearn; Catalysts for Transformation; and Grounded in the Community.

Our History
We started in 2009 as an institute of higher learning, providing wider opportunities for polytechnic graduates to obtain an overseas university degree locally. Our reputable overseas university partners offered specialised degrees in the fields of engineering, science and technology. We operated as an institution for five years before becoming a public autonomous university in 2014, offering our own applied degrees.
The SIT-DNA
Students embody the values of the university they enrol in. The SIT-DNA serves as guiding principles for curriculum design, pedagogical approach and student interaction. The four traits are encoded into students' characteristics, likened to an individual's DNA.
Applied Learning
Learning by doing is the foundation of applied learning. Our extensive Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP) promotes active learning, allowing students to undertake six to 12 months of relevant work with our industry partners to develop specialised skills.
