Portable Medical-Grade Suctioning Device

Second generation prototype – the use of piston vacuum pump
Second generation prototype – the use of piston vacuum pump

Project Background

Airway suctioning devices can be lifesaving during critical situations. However, the current medical-grade suctioning devices are not compact, portable, or battery-operated.

This project has developed prototypes of portable airway suctioning device that can meet the following user requirements:

  1. High performance capability
  2. Compact, portable, and lightweight
  3. Battery-operation of approximately two hours
  4. Medical homecare equipment grade
  5. Ergonomically-friendly and user intuitive
