Engineering Economics and Project Management

This course introduces students to the major tools in project planning, management and control. The aim of the course is to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to manage the implementation of industrial projects in practice.

Topics to be covered include:
an overview of the project management function
screening and selection methods for a given project problem
project and product costing
development of detail project plan (work and organisational structures, scheduling and costing of the work, and the establishment of the project budget)
resource management
control system to minimise deviation from project plan
