Application of Clinical and Social Psychology in Occupational Therapy
Clinical psychology is a specialized field of applied psychological science concerned with the diagnosis, etiology, assessment and treatment of mental health disorders. The aim of the module is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the key clinical psychology areas within the mental health setting and equip them with the necessary skillset required for mental health professionals. Specifically, the module will encompass: diagnostic classification and assessment of mental health disorders, differential diagnosis of prevalent psychiatric disorders, major psychological treatment approaches, as well as essential treatment techniques. In the application to occupational therapy, particular emphasis will be placed on the recovery movement and psychiatric rehabilitation principles.
