Broaden your learning horizons overseas

OEP-Narita

Overseas Exposure Programme (OEP)

The OEP is a customised programme that enhances our students' learning beyond the Singapore context by allowing them to explore and learn in the region (ASEAN, China or India) and globally. These programmes are specially curated with our joint international partners and academic staff to ensure students apply their skills to benefit the international community. Some examples of the OEP include the Overseas Social Innovation Programme and Overseas Community Projects funded by the National Youth Council and corporate donors.

39 students from the Health and Social Sciences (HSS) Cluster attended a one-week OEP in Narita, Japan. The OEP was hosted by the International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW), and the itinerary of the OEP consists of the following:

  • Campus tour, lecture, tour of facilities
  • Visits to medical centres and hospitals
  • Sightseeing and visits to cultural sites

Overseas Immersion Programme
(OIP)

The OIP is compulsory for all students pursuing Joint or OU undergraduate programmes*. These programmes are designed to provide greater learning experiences, including lectures, hands-on project work, workshops, and industry visits at the OU. Students will get to interact with their university professors and mentors while experiencing life abroad with their overseas peers. Participation in OIP will be reflected in students' Record of Achievement (ROA).

*This excludes students from the Food Technology programme with Massey University. Students may complete their Final-Year Project in the form of OIP in New Zealand, subject to placement availability. Students who do not attend the OIP will be required to complete a paper of equivalent weightage in Singapore.

The UofG OIP was shortened to 2 weeks during the post-pandemic period, instead of the usual 3-week programme. Students were treated to lectures, group projects, field trips and presentations.

Overseas Integrated Work Study Programme (OIWSP)

The OIWSP is a distinctive applied learning feature of SIT, which allows undergraduates to be immersed in an overseas work environment for a period of 8 to 12 months.

Under the national ambits outlined in the Committee on the Future Economy (CFE) strategies, students are encouraged to acquire global insights and immerse themselves in regional industries.

Student Exchange Programme (SEP)

The SEP aims to enrich students with an overseas studying and living experience through one of SIT’s Overseas University (OU) partners. The typical exchange duration is for one trimester/semester, and credit transfer will be arranged.

Summer/Winter School Programme (SWS)

SIT is building new partnerships with leading universities in the ACI regions and beyond, to offer students best-in-class Summer/Winter School Programmes. These are 2 to 3 week-long programmes that offer students the opportunity to make new friends beyond SIT. Students will be able to cultivate a deeper appreciation of the diverse cultures and lifestyles of different countries while not affecting their usual academic term as the programmes often occur during trimester breaks. The experiences you acquire during your overseas studies will be equally valuable to your future employers.
