Celebrating Assistive Technology and Inclusivity One of the community partners CLASIC has worked closely with is Engineering Good, a non-profit organization that focuses on improving the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and low-income families through the use of infocomm technologies and engineering design. Engineering Good’s anchor event, Tech for Good, is an annual innovation challenge celebrating assistive technology and inclusivity. Youths aged 15 to 25 years old form teams and work on published problem statements to create solutions for PwDs and their families or caregivers. Recognising that the event will expose students to design thinking targeted at solving practical problems faced by PwDs, and strengthen the students’ critical thinking, teamwork, and project management skills, SIT has proudly partnered Engineering Good to co-produce Tech for Good 2021. SIT faculty, Asst Professors Padma Rao and Nicholas Teo have delivered workshops to an enthusiastic group of Tech for Good 2021 mentors and student participants at the pre-challenge virtual boot camp held on 7 Aug 2021 and CLASIC will lend its support to SIT student teams taking part in the Tech for Good innovation challenge festival to be held on 6 Nov 2021.
