The Centre for Intelligent Robotics (CIR) at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) brings together applied research, industry collaboration and talent development to build robotics systems that work beyond the lab – safely and at scale.

Applied robotics, built for real-world environments

CIR is SIT’s centralised applied robotics platform focused on embodied AI — intelligence built directly into physical systems so robots can sense, adapt and act safely in real-world environments. The Centre works closely with industry and government partners to take robotics from concept to live deployment.

Robotics put to the test

CIR supports robotics test-bedding and operations in the Punggol Digital District (PDD), a smart precinct where emerging technologies are developed and trialled under live urban conditions. 

As the anchor university in PDD, SIT works with partners such as IMDA and JTC to support robotics deployment in shared spaces, including systems that manage how multiple robots operate safely together. 

The result: robotics tested and refined under actual operating conditions, with a clear path to scaling beyond the district.

  • SIT–Unitree Joint Lab, developing cognitive capabilities so that robots can understand and perform a mix of tasks
  • SIT–Slamtec Joint Lab, advancing intelligent spatial robot perception so that robots can better sense and navigate their environment  
  • SIT–QuikBot Joint Lab, exploring humanoid robot parcel sorting for logistics 

 

These collaborations focus on developing and trialling robotics solutions with clear pathways to real-world deployment.
