Ceremony Day

Things to note for Graduands and Guests:

Arrival

Graduands and guests are advised to arrive at least 1 hour before the ceremony.

Please take note of the timings below. 

There will be mandatory bag checks conducted before you enter the venue for security purposes. Food, drinks, flowers and balloons will not be allowed into the venue. 

Graduands must be fully robed before entering the Theatre.

Arrival of Graduands and Guests

Entry to the venue is via the Theatre Main Entrance, Level 3

Graduands are required to register your attendance at the Graduands’ Registration Counter.

Please present your SIT matriculation card and Graduand Admission Card.

Graduands who do not register their attendance at the counter will not be presented on stage.

Admission and Seating

Entry to the Theatre is strictly by ticket only. The Graduand Admission Card (for graduands) and Guest Invitation Card (for graduands’ invited guest) must be presented at the point of entry. 

Each registered graduand is allocated a seat number in the Theatre which is printed on the Graduand Admission Card. As graduands are presented according to a numbered sequence, you are to refrain from swapping seats with your fellow graduands.

Guests will be seated on a first come, first served basis. All attendees are requested to remain seated after entering the Theatre. Please be punctual as the ceremony will commence on time and latecomers will not be allowed into the venue.

Children below the age of seven (7) will not be permitted to enter the Theatre for the ceremony.

Etiquette & Dress Code


The Graduation Ceremony is a formal and dignified event. To preserve the decorum of the event, graduands and families are requested to exercise etiquette appropriate to the occasion, especially when graduands are being presented on stage. 

Guests are requested to dress appropriately and avoid casual or inappropriate attire, such as slippers or flip-flops.

Graduands should comply with the dress code for the ceremony to show respect for the significance of the event.

Graduands are advised not to bring large bags or backpacks, as there may not be a designated area for storing personal belongings. 

Graduand Dress Code

Men Ladies
Collared long-sleeved shirt and dark-coloured trousers Shirt/blouse and dark-coloured trousers or skirt (knee-length), or a dress (knee-length)
Covered shoes with socks Shoes of a comfortable height Traditional attire (e.g. sari) may be worn

Graduands who are inappropriately dressed (i.e. shorts, jeans, casual pants, slippers or track shoes), or wearing an academic dress with the wrong hood colour or design, will not be presented on stage.

Presentation of Graduands

  1. Graduands will be prompted to line up for the presentation on-stage. Hand your Graduand Admission Card to the marshals and quickly line up. When lining up, ensure you keep the same sequence.
  2. When you walk up the stage, wait at the waiting line for your name to be read. When your name is read, walk briskly towards the presenter to receive the certificate folder, and pose for your photo.
  3. After this, walk towards the other end to exit the stage. Ushers will direct you to the certificate collection counter before you return to your seat. Please refrain from exiting the Theatre or going to the guests’ seats.

End of Ceremony

Light refreshments will be served. Graduation bears and plaques are available for purchase at the reception area.
