SIT Graduates Sustain Market Appeal Amid Cautious Hiring Climate

  • Close to 9 in 10 SIT graduates from the Class of 2025 secured employment within six months of graduation

  • Strong employment outcomes were observed across several SIT programmes, particularly in healthcare, engineering and business disciplines, underscoring the relevance of SIT’s work-integrated learning approach

SIT GES 2025

SINGAPORE, 5 March 2026 – Class of 2025 graduates from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) continue to remain employable, securing starting salaries comparable to past years despite a more cautious hiring climate. The results of the 2025 Joint Autonomous Universities Graduate Employment Survey (JAUGES) affirm the university’s applied learning model and strong industry partnerships.

Of the 2,713 SIT graduates across 35 degree programmes, 2,086 participated in the survey, which was conducted between 1 November 2025 and 22 January 2026. This year marks SIT’s first full participation in the joint survey cycle alongside the other Autonomous Universities, following the alignment of its survey period.

Strong Outcomes Across Diverse Disciplines

The survey showed that close to 9 in 10 (88.2%) SIT graduates in the labour force secured employment[1] within six months of graduation. 83.8%-pts are employed in full-time or part-time roles, while another 4.5%-pts have accepted employment to commence later or have chosen to pursue a business venture. 75.4%-pts were in full-time permanent roles at six months after their final examinations.

Health and Social Sciences programmes continued to perform well; 100% of the graduates from Diagnostic Radiography, Dietetics and Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech & Language Therapy secured employment. For engineering programmes, Pharmaceutical Engineering recorded a strong overall secured employment outcome of 96.8%, reflecting continued demand for these specialised skills.

Some programmes also showed improved employment outcomes. For example, the Computer Science (Real‑Time Interactive Simulation) programme recorded a notable increase in the proportion of graduates securing employment, rising from 86.4% in 2024 to 90.3% in 2025, alongside consistently high job relevance, underscoring strong market demand for its graduates’ skills.

SIT’s Accountancy graduates also performed better this year, with the proportion securing employment rising from 93.4% in 2024 to 97.6% in 2025. This increase reflects the programme’s growing recognition in the accountancy field, with its industry-relevant curriculum, emphasis on applied learning, and close alignment with evolving sector demands. SIT’s Accountancy programme stands out for its comprehensive integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics Process Automation, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and Blockchain Technology, and Fundamental Programming training into its core curriculum, alongside exposure to Accounting Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms such as SAP, ensuring every student develops critical digital skills. Students are further supported by SIT’s OCBC Analytics and Innovation Lab, equipped with Bloomberg Professional Platform, which provides hands‑on exposure to industry‑standard financial analysis tools and the opportunity to complete the Bloomberg Market Concepts certification.

Class of 2025’s employment outcomes are complemented by stable graduate earnings, with SIT graduates recording a gross median salary of $4,230[2]. Selected programmes also saw salary growth. Graduates from Pharmaceutical Engineering recorded a higher median gross monthly salary of $4,500 in 2025, up from $4,200 in the previous survey cycle. ICT (Software Engineering) graduates saw a modest increase in median gross monthly salary, rising from $4,900 to $5,000. These outcomes reflect continued employer demand for specialised engineering and digital skillsets.

IWSP Continues to Be a Key Driver of SIT Graduates’ Career Outcomes

Close to 1 in 2 (48.6%) SIT interns received advanced full-time employment offers from their employers during their Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP) attachment. Of these, more than half (59%) accepted the advanced job offers from their IWSP employers ahead of graduation. This increase in advanced full-time employment offers from 45.4% last year, despite a cautious job market, signifies employers’ growing confidence in our graduates.

Cheng Jia Xian, a Computer Science in Real-Time Interactive Simulation graduate, is one such example whose IWSP at HTX (Home Team Science and Technology Agency) provided both hands-on work experience and a clear pathway into full-time employment. A project he was assigned to during his IWSP had him quickly adapting to Python programming, AI and machine learning concepts, and an R&D-focused workflow, gaining experience in research, model development, and problem-solving. Recognising the value of his contributions, HTX offered him a full-time role as an AI Engineer before graduation. Jia Xian now works on detecting AI-generated and deepfake content while mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to responsible AI development.

These outcomes are reinforced by SIT’s industry partners who affirm that the work attachment programme helps to develop work‑ready talent. Mr Chai Chong Meng, Vice President, Site Head (Singapore), Lonza, said “At Lonza, we see SIT students not merely as interns, but as valued contributors who create meaningful impact from day one. Their ability to translate learning into high-quality outcomes, combined with strong listening skills and effective teamwork, consistently sets them apart. In fact, we have offered full-time roles to high-performing interns even before they completed their internships. This in itself, is a clear testament to the strong industry readiness cultivated through SIT’s applied learning approach.”

A spokesperson from AbbVie Singapore Operations' Talent Acquisition team echoed this sentiment: “SIT Pharmaceutical Engineering students stand out for their technical, hands-on skills, genuine curiosity, and clear commitment to a career in pharmaceutical manufacturing.”

Resilience, Adaptability and Lifelong Career Support

Acknowledging the more cautious hiring climate, SIT has strengthened its career coaching services[3]  for its graduates. Graduates who leverage career coaching support can sharpen their job search strategies, articulate their skills more effectively, and identify roles that better align with their strengths, interests, and longer‑term career goals. One of the graduates who benefitted from the University’s support is See Chang Le. Chang Le went through a couple of personalised career coaching sessions, where his coach reviewed his past experiences, strengths, and interests to identify practical skills he should develop. Together, they mapped out suitable sectors to explore and next steps to align his career path more closely with his long-term goals. Within 1.5 months, he secured a full-time role as a Mechanical Engineer at engineering consultancy WSP, working on a range of infrastructure projects across Singapore. The role is closely related to his studies in the Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering programme, which provides mechanical engineering training with a focus on building services[4]. His experience underscores how structured career coaching can help graduates make informed career choices and progress confidently in a more cautious hiring climate.

SIT has also seen encouraging participation by its alumni in its upskilling courses, supported by the ‘Learn for Life’ credits[5]. Through this initiative, SIT alumni can take up a complimentary course or module once every five years, enabling them to continually upskill and reskill to stay adaptable and competitive as job roles and industry needs evolve over time. SIT alumni have embarked on Continuing Education and Training (CET) modules in topics such as generative artificial intelligence and data analytics since the launch of the initiative in 2024.

SIT will also make its Digital Competency Roadmaps available to all alumni by late 2026. The roadmaps provide structured, curated learning in high‑demand areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Extended Reality, Blockchain, Low‑Code Programming, and Cloud Computing, enabling alumni to stay current and competitive. Designed as scaffolded learning journeys, the roadmaps allow learners to upskill at their own pace through more than 100 courses, including SIT‑developed content and partner offerings. Courses include both free and paid options, providing flexibility to meet diverse learning needs and budgets. This complements SIT’s CET programmes and strengthens its commitment to lifelong learning.

Reinforcing SIT’s commitment to applied learning and industry-focused education, SIT President, Professor Chua Kee Chaing, said, “Despite a cautious economic climate, SIT graduates continue to earn employer confidence, showcasing the relevance of our applied learning approach. While we celebrate these outcomes, we recognise that some graduates may take alternative pathways—such as internships, part-time roles or adjacent-sector opportunities—as they build experience and momentum. SIT remains committed to supporting our SITizens beyond graduation through career coaching, industry engagement and lifelong learning initiatives, equipping them with the skills and adaptability to navigate their careers with confidence over the long term.”
