About the Donor
The Bursary is made possible by a gift from Dr Alvin Yeo in honour of his father, Yeo Lik Kim, who inspired him to always do his best and give back to the less fortunate. Yeo Lik Kim grew up after WW2 and went to trade school on the advice of his fathers' friends. Without any formal qualifications, he started work as a bank clerk as a teenager, rising to become an Assistant General Manager of a renowned American bank at age 30. He completed his 'O' and 'A' levels in night school and earned his Banking Diploma from the London Institute of Banking & Finance, subsequently attending the Harvard Graduate School of Business Management Programme in 1974. At 76 years old, he continues to be active in the banking industry. Following his parents' guidance, he has always been generous with his time, counsel and money to help others. Through this bursary, Dr Yeo and his family aim to inspire students to believe in themselves and reach for the sky, and to always remember to assist those around them.
