Why It Matters

A New Leadership Mandate is Emerging

Generative AI has moved from experimentation into mainstream business adoption. As organisations scale that adoption, someone must own decisions on AI strategy, workforce readiness, governance, risk and responsible deployment, responsibilities that extend beyond the traditional remit of a CIO or CTO.

That is the Chief AI Officer (CAIO): the leader who connects business strategy, AI opportunity, workforce transformation and governance. Just as organisations created new leadership functions for the technology era (CIO), the digital era (Chief Digital Officer) and the data era (Chief Data Officer), the AI era is giving rise to its own emerging profession.

The CAIO connects

Business Strategy
AI Opportunity
Workforce Transformation
Governance
