Who This Pathway Is For
Diploma Holders
You have a diploma and hands-on experience, and you're looking for a way to build towards a related bachelor's degree without repeating what you already know.
With the CSM Pathway:
Every micro-credential you complete stacks towards a full SIT degree, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may credit your existing diploma and work experience towards it.
Degree Holders
Your degree gave you a strong foundation — but new tools, methods and standards have since entered your field, and a second full degree is a lot to take on.
With the CSM Pathway:
Earn a Specialist or Graduate Certificate for each competency you need and complete. Each counts towards a full degree, whenever you're ready.
Career Explorers
You're considering a transition into a new domain or specialisation, and want to test it before committing to further study.
With the CSM Pathway:
You'll take a single micro-credential first, and decide whether to stack it towards a degree once you know it's the right direction.
The Usual Choice
Traditional degree programmes require you to choose upfront: study full-time, or commit to a part-time programme that runs for several years alongside your job and family commitments.
The CSM Pathway
Build towards a degree by earning one Specialist or Graduate Certificate at a time. Complete a micro-credential, apply what you've learned at work, then decide on the right next step for your goals.
Built Around A Working Life
Competencies that are directly applicable
Each micro-credential is built to equip you with the essential skills to perform at work. Earn Specialist Certificates to demonstrate your mastery at each milestone.
A pace and sequence you choose
Pick the micro-credentials that match where you want to take your career next, and stack them towards a degree when you're ready.
Support built around you
A blended model that combines online self-paced learning and some scheduled in-person sessions, supported by SkillsFuture funding and a dedicated success coach.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the CSM Pathway, in plain terms?
It stands for Competency-based Stackable Micro-credential Pathway.
The learning journey lets learners complete a micro-credential, earn a Specialist or Graduate Certificate for it, then decide whether to stack that certificate towards a full SIT Bachelor's or Master's degree.
Each micro-credential stands on its own — stacking is optional, not a requirement.
-
Do I have to commit to the full degree straight away, or can I take one micro-credential on its own?
For Specialist Certificates, you can take a single 3-month micro-credential on its own. Stacking towards a Bachelor's degree is a decision you can make later, one micro-credential at a time.
For Graduate Certificate, you can take a single 3-day module on its own and earn a Certificate of Attainment, and you may proceed to complete all modules in a micro-credential to earn a Graduate Certificate. Stacking towards a Graduate Certificate and then to a Master's degree is a decision you can make later, one module at a time.
-
If I'm stacking micro-credentials towards a degree, which funding applies?
SkillsFuture subsidy and training allowance applies to standalone micro-credentials for eligible learners, while you stack to a degree. A different maximum number of SkillsFuture subsidised micro-credentials apply to each degree programme.
The degree-level funding scheme (Tuition Grant, Public Bursaries) apply once you formally progress into the full degree.
Refer to the respective programme pages for details.
-
What happens to my certificates if I decide not to continue stacking towards a degree?
You keep the Specialist or Graduate Certificate for every micro-credential you complete, whether or not you decide to stack it to a degree. The certificates and credits are valid for 5 years for stacking to a degree.
-
What are the entry requirements to start?
Entry requirements vary by module, micro-credential and the degree it stacks towards. Please check the specific module and micro-credential's course page for details, or contact SITLEARN for guidance on which pathway best fits your background.
