About Course
Process steam systems and boilers are among the largest energy consumers in industrial facilities, yet they are often overlooked for optimisation due to their complexity and the perceived risk of interrupting operations.
As energy costs rise and carbon reduction targets tighten, there is a growing need for engineers and technicians who can confidently assess, tune, and improve these systems without compromising reliability or safety.
This course equips utility engineers and technicians with the knowledge and skills to optimise industrial steam systems and boilers through structured energy auditing and system performance evaluation. It is designed to address the complexities of steam system operations, where sound engineering judgement and precise measurement and verification are critical to achieving meaningful and sustainable energy savings.
Learners will explore boiler and steam system fundamentals, energy audit methodologies, and practical optimisation strategies through a highly immersive programme. Through a blended format of classroom learning and intensive hands-on sessions at the Energy Efficiency Technology Centre (EETC) mini plant, learners will evaluate real system performance data, correlate theoretical concepts with practical observations, and develop actionable recommendations for energy savings.
Upon completion, learners will have the skills to confidently conduct steam system audits, identify inefficiencies, and implement practical improvements that reduce energy consumption and support their organisation's carbon reduction goals.
Who Should Attend
This course is suitable for:
Minimum Entry Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering; or
- An Engineering Diploma with a minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in steam systems, boiler operations, or a related industrial field.

Certificate and Assessment
A Certificate of Attainment will be issued to participants who:
- Attend at least 75% of the course
- Undertake and pass non-credit bearing assessment during the course
Participants who meet the attendance requirement but do not pass the assessment will receive a Certificate of Participation.
