About Course
Singapore's Energy Efficiency and Carbon Mitigation goals are opening up new ground for electrical engineers to build deeper expertise in energy monitoring and assessment. Compressed air, boiler, HVAC and electrical systems account for a large share of energy use in industrial and building settings, making measurement and analysis a valuable addition to an engineer's existing design and operations skillset.
This module is designed for electrical engineering professionals working in power system operations, substation maintenance, electrical design and protection engineering, across the utilities, transport, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors. It builds the measurement and analytical competencies needed to assess energy performance across the systems that dominate industrial and building energy use.
Energy measurement theory and instrumentation will be covered across six major systems: compressed air, boilers and steam, pumps and piping, fans and motors, electrical installations and lighting, and air-conditioning and heat pump systems. Learners will apply statistical analysis, regression modelling and optimisation techniques to interpret energy data, working through case studies and practical exercises that mirror real industrial energy assessments.
This module, worth 6 credits, is one of three modules under the Graduate Certificate in Electrical Energy Efficiency and Sustainability, which is stackable towards the Master of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
