About Course

AI systems are increasingly embedded in everyday work processes, and this now gives organisations the opportunity to strengthen decision quality by building stronger human judgement around how AI is used. As professionals interpret AI-generated outputs and exercise oversight in real-world decisions, calibrated trust and effective human–AI interaction become a source of confidence and better outcomes rather than a source of risk.

This course is the third in a six-part Psychology of AI series, and can be taken independently of the other five.

Learners will examine how professionals develop trust, reliance and emotional responses when interacting with AI systems, and explores how design features such as tone, confidence, explanation, feedback, transparency and conversational style shape user judgement and decision-making.

Through Capabara-based simulations and case analysis, learners examine trust, overtrust, undertrust, calibrated trust, overreliance and ethical influence, and develop practical guidelines for transparent, balanced and responsible human–AI interaction.

Delivered through in-person classroom sessions at SIT Punggol Campus, learners can expect a combination of case analysis with hands-on use of the Capabara AI Factory platform.

This course is developed in partnership with Straits Interactive, a leading edtech company committed to enabling organisations to thrive in a business landscape defined by Generative AI.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the psychological mechanisms of trust that shape reliance and judgement in human–AI interaction.
  • Distinguish types of trust and reliance, including overtrust, undertrust, overreliance and appropriate reliance in AI-supported contexts.
  • Analyse AI design features and their influence on user perception and behaviour, including tone, confidence, explanation, feedback, transparency and interface cues.
  • Identify risks in human–AI interaction, such as automation bias, algorithm aversion, anthropomorphism, persuasive AI, emotional validation and misplaced authority.
  • Evaluate ethical and socio-technical implications of human–AI interaction across different workplace and organisational contexts.
  • Apply behavioural and human-centred design principles to support calibrated trust, user understanding, contestability and responsible reliance.
  • Design a Trust and Reliance Blueprint that translates these principles into practical guidelines for responsible human–AI interaction.
