About Course
AI tools are increasingly part of everyday work, giving professionals more opportunities to draw on AI-generated recommendations when making decisions. This creates a growing need for people to sharpen how they interpret those outputs and apply their own judgement alongside them.
This course is the first in a six-part Psychology of AI series, and can be taken independently of the other five.
It examines how humans and AI systems approach decisions differently, covering human cognition, intuition, heuristics, bias, memory, cognitive offloading and productive struggle, and what these mean for judgement, learning and accountability in AI-assisted work.
Learners work through practical exercises using the Capabara AI Assistant, practising techniques such as commit-then-consult, reflective decision-making, reasoning trace and verification by stakes to strengthen judgement and use AI as a thinking partner rather than a substitute for thinking.
Delivery is through in-person classroom sessions at SIT Punggol Campus, combining facilitated discussion with hands-on exercises using the Capabara AI Assistant.
This course is developed in partnership with Straits Interactive, a leading edtech company committed to enabling organisations to thrive in a business landscape defined by Generative AI.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Describe cognitive parallels and differences between human and artificial intelligence.
- Identify cognitive and psychological biases that influence human–AI decision-making.
- Identify risks in AI-assisted work, including fluency illusion, cognitive offloading, automation bias, overconfidence and shallow acceptance of AI outputs.
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs using standards such as relevance, sufficiency, evidence, bias, consequences and verification by stakes.
- Assess the trustworthiness of AI systems using reflective and evidence-based reasoning.
- Design a human-in-the-loop decision checklist to support responsible and balanced use of AI in a professional context.
