FAQS
Commonly Asked Questions
-
When can I apply?
SIT runs three intake cycles per year — January, May, and September — so if you miss one window, there is another within a few months. Register your interest now to receive the programme brochure and to be notified when applications open.
-
How long will completing the degree actually take?
At one micro-credential per trimester, you can graduate in three years. SIT allows up to five years from the date of enrolment. If RPL exemptions reduce your required credits count, you may graduate ahead of the three-year mark.
-
How much funding is available?
Funding depends on eligibility and the schemes available to individual learners. Enquire with us for a personalised funding assessment.
-
Will employers recognise this qualification?
Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Computing awarded by the Singapore Institute of Technology.
-
Do I need to take micro-credentials in a particular order?
Although we provide a recommended study pathway for the degree programme, you are not required to take micro-credentials in a prescribed order. SIT will state the recommended baseline competencies that an individual should have before embarking on a micro-credential.
-
What happens to micro-credentials I have already completed as standalone modules?
Standalone micro-credentials completed before degree enrolment remain valid for five years and stack directly toward the degree at 18 credits each should you passed the micro-credentials with a grade "C" and above. When you formally enrol into the degree programme, MOE Tuition Grant replaces the SkillsFuture standalone subsidy for remaining micro-credentials. Our programme advisor can walk you through what this means in your specific situation.
-
Will my existing certifications and work experience reduce what I need to do?
You may apply for SIT's Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) during your application. This is when your industry certifications, Advanced Diplomas, and verifiable work competencies are reviewed and potentially translate into credit exemptions which reduces both the number of credits required and the total time to graduation.
-
What is the Capstone Project and when does it run?
The Capstone Project is a 16-credit, year-long project where you apply your accumulated knowledge to a genuine industry challenge as proof of your degree-level capability. It runs in parallel with your final micro-credentials, so it does not add a separate year to your degree.
-
Are there interviews? What does the application process involve?
Degree programme applicants go through an interview and an Academic Aptitude Assessment.
Learners who are standalone micro-credential leaners must pass at least one Foundation or Specialised micro-credential with a minimum 'C' grade before applying for degree enrolment.
