About Course
Ultrasound involves the use of high frequency ultrasound waves to produce diagnostic quality images.
This course aims to provide you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the vascular ultrasound field. You will develop an understanding of Doppler physics and its application and importance in vascular scanning.
Topics covered include physiology of normal circulation, the process of vascular disease and its effect on the normal circulation, the ultrasound techniques involved in scanning the cerebro-vascular system, upper and lower limb vessels, and abdominal vessels as well as less common indications for vascular ultrasound.
You will also develop an insight into the role of ultrasound and other supplementary imaging tests for the diagnosis of various venous and arterial disease.
Who Should Attend
- Radiographers practising ultrasound
- Healthcare professionals involved in ultrasound work
Prerequisites
- Participants are required to have a healthcare-related qualification. Prior clinical experience and knowledge on the general operation of the ultrasound machines may be given preferential consideration
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the core principles underlying the Doppler examination and clinical applications using Color and Spectral Doppler techniques
- Be familiar with the common indications, sonographic anatomy, and common pathologies of the various vascular systems
- Describe the scanning technique/imaging protocol required to produce good images with diagnostic quality
- Recognise the normal and abnormal ultrasound anatomy of the abdominal, peripheral arterial, and venous systems as well as the cerebrovascular system
- Deepen understanding of the significance of lab and/or clinical tests, and supplementary imaging modalities for diseases related to various vascular systems
