About Course

Solid organ transplant nursing is a specialised area of care focused on protecting, promoting, and optimising the health and abilities of both transplant recipients and living donors across the lifespan.

This care involves the prevention, detection, and treatment of health conditions related to diseases managed through solid organ transplantation. It also addresses complications that may arise from living donor procedures across individuals of all ages.

This module introduces the main concepts in the provision of nursing care and services to transplant recipients and donors. It also explores the professional responsibilities of transplant nurses in providing care to both recipients and donors. This includes their roles, legal and ethical considerations, and the management of transplant-related complications and chronic allograft dysfunction.

This module is part of the Organ Transplant Nursing specialisation track in SIT’s Master of Health Sciences programme. Completing this module offers a stackable option toward a Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Organ Transplant Nursing and progress toward earning a Masters of Health Sciences degree.
