About Course

A module that explores the application of manual therapy within a holistic treatment framework, addressing the complex and multidimensional nature of pain and dysfunction in the upper quadrant.

The skills introduced in this module will focus on specific body regions, however, assessment and treatment will be guided by a comprehensive understanding of the patient as a whole. Learners will evaluate evidence based and clinical concepts along with advanced practical skills used in musculoskeletal setting.

The clinical portfolio will serve as a key reflective component of this module, capturing the integration of communication, clinical reasoning, and practical skills. Learners will enhance their skills in musculoskeletal practice through peer-based learning and instructor feedback, which will help develop their clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities. Learners will also undergo clinical practice education in a healthcare institution to advance their clinical practice in the area of musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

This module is part of the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy specialisation track in SIT’s Master of Health Sciences programme. Completing this module offers a stackable option toward a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Practice and progress toward earning a Masters of Health Sciences degree.
