About Course
Connected sensors, cloud platforms and digital twins now give supply chain teams a live view of their operations and a safe environment to test changes before making them. Combined with optimisation and AI-assisted analytics, these tools make it possible to plan for disruption, compare scenarios and act on data rather than estimates.
This micro-credential builds the competency to design, model and optimise digitally enabled supply chain operations. It is structured around three core modules: Smart Supply Chain Transformation, which covers modernising legacy processes and integrating digital infrastructure for real-time visibility and performance monitoring; Systems Modelling and Digital Twin, which develops the ability to build simulation models of physical assets and process flows and use them to evaluate performance; and Applied Decision Intelligence, which applies optimisation-based, data-driven and AI-assisted methods to decisions such as inventory replenishment, supplier selection and distribution network design. Learners bring the three modules together in an integrative project based on an authentic industry case. It is designed for supply chain, procurement and logistics professionals who want to lead digital improvement in their organisations.
Learning is delivered primarily online at your own pace, giving working professionals the flexibility to progress around their schedule. This is complemented by live online sessions with faculty, and project assessments conducted in person at SIT Punggol Campus.
This micro-credential is part of the Competency-based Stackable Micro-credential (CSM) Pathway in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Infrastructure and Systems Engineering.
Who Should Attend
Professionals working in supply chain, procurement and logistics functions, including:
Assumed Prior Knowledge
Learners should be able to:
- Interpret basic operational data and performance metrics such as demand, inventory and service levels
- Apply structured problem-solving approaches in organisational or operational contexts
- Use basic digital tools such as spreadsheets to organise and analyse data
- Work with physical system modelling concepts, block diagrams and basic software or scripting
- Apply probability distributions and statistics to modelling and simulation outcomes
- Explain Internet of Things (IoT) concepts, including sensor data fundamentals, signal processing and feature engineering
Learners who are unfamiliar with these areas are encouraged to review foundational materials before the course begins.
Stack Towards an SIT Degree
Upon attaining the Specialist Certificate in this micro-credential, learners may stack their qualification towards selected SIT degree programmes:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (via the CSM Pathway)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Infrastructure and Systems Engineering (via the CSM Pathway)
- Bachelor of Integrated Studies (Hons) in Technology and Management with Specialisation in Supply Chain
These routes to a degree enable learners to progressively build recognised academic qualifications while advancing their expertise in computing, engineering and technology-related disciplines.
Learning Outcomes
This micro-credential is predominantly delivered through a competency-based education (CBE) approach where learners acquire and demonstrate mastery of knowledge and skills that are directly relevant to job functions. This prepares you to be industry-ready, where you can apply your newly acquired competencies to your work.
List of Modules
| Code | MODULE Title | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| ENG3408C | Smart Supply Chain Transformation | 6 |
| ENG3409C | Systems Modelling and Digital Twin | 6 |
| ENG3410C | Applied Decision Intelligence | 6 |
Upon successful completion of this micro‑credential, you will be able to:
- Design smart supply chain transformation by integrating digital technologies and cloud-based infrastructure to modernise supply chain processes and enable real-time operational visibility and performance monitoring.
- Implement smart transformation strategies by modernising legacy systems and integrating digital technologies into supply chain operations, aligning digital capabilities, processes and governance with organisational strategy.
- Design digital simulation models that represent physical assets and operational processes in a digital environment, applying modelling principles and system knowledge to create accurate virtual representations for operational analysis.
- Optimise system performance with digital twins by monitoring system conditions, simulating scenarios and predicting outcomes, applying principles of continuous experimentation and feedback to improve physical processes through data-driven insights.
- Formulate supply chain decision models using optimisation-based and data-driven approaches to support effective decision-making in complex operational environments.
- Evaluate decisions under uncertainty through scenario analysis and robustness assessment supported by AI-assisted techniques, to improve operational performance and resilience.
Coaching for Success
During the course, you will have access to a team of qualified success coaches who can work with you on learning strategies or to develop a personalised learning plan. Through the success coaches, you can gain access to a wide range of resources and support services, and be empowered with the necessary tools to navigate your learning journey successfully.
