Course Overview
Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) play a crucial role as a safety protection layer in ensuring functional safety for process plants. The functional safety standard, IEC 61511 is widely adopted in managing the safety life cycle of SIS.
Aligned with safety case technical guide and assessment guide, Major Hazardous Installations (MHIs) are advised to adhere to IEC 61511 when implementing SIS. However, navigating the operation and maintenance of SIS in accordance with IEC 61511 poses challenges for process plants. Therefore, it is essential to understand the fundamentals of SIS as a safety net for mitigating risks in industrial processes. This course introduces the principles and practices of managing SIS during the operation and maintenance phase.
In this one-day course, learners will explore key concepts such as SIS, IEC 61511, functional safety management and the safety life-cycle. They will also learn about the requirements for the operation and maintenance of SIS according to IEC 61511.
