About Course
As industries accelerate their digital and industrial transformation journeys, the demand for engineers and technicians with practical expertise in robotics application and automation continues to grow.
This micro-credential aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to design, develop, and evaluate robotic and automation systems. It provides
Learners will gain a strong foundation in the principles of robotics and automation, including components of a robot, path and trajectory planning, kinematics, mechatronics, navigation, perception, control, and programming for industrial automation and services.
The programme is structured around four competency units that progress from foundational industrial automation principles through to the design and integration of autonomous robotic systems.
Integrating online and in-person delivery, learners will gain hands-on experience with real-world tools and technologies, preparing them to drive automation initiatives and contribute meaningfully to their organisations' operational excellence goals.
This micro-credential is part of the CSM Pathways in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Infrastructure and Systems Engineering.
Who Should Attend
Engineers, technicians, and operations professionals who are involved in or transitioning into roles related to automation and robotics, including:
Minimum Entry Requirements
Learners should have the following minimum level of knowledge or skill:
- Vector, linear algebra, and calculus
- Basic programming knowledge such as C programming or equivalent
Learning Outcomes
This micro-credential is predominantly delivered through a competency-based education (CBE) approach where learners acquire and demonstrate mastery of knowledge and skills that are directly relevant to job functions. This prepares them to be industry-ready where they can apply their newly acquired competencies to their work.
List of Competency Units
| Code | Competency Unit Title | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| TBA | Industrial Automation System | 6 |
| TBA | Robotics Modelling | 3 |
| TBA | Autonomous Robots | 6 |
| TBA | Robotics Automation Integration | 3 |
Upon successful completion of this micro-credential, learners will be able to:
- Design, programme, and integrate sensors and actuators for industry process automation
- Apply robotic manipulator technologies to execute and enhance operational workflows
- Design autonomous robotics solutions for industrial applications
- Integrate robotic and automation systems within existing industrial environments
- Apply kinematics, mechatronics, navigation, and perception principles to real-world automation challenges
Coaching for Success
During the course, you will have access to a team of qualified success coaches who can work with you on learning strategies or to develop a personalised learning plan. Through the success coaches, you can gain access to a wide range of resources and support services, and be empowered with the necessary tools to navigate your learning journey successfully.
