About Course

The world is full of uncertainty, but understanding yourself is the first step to navigating what lies ahead. At SIT, we aim to equip our SITizens with lifelong skills to thrive in a fast-changing world.

Design Your Futures (DYF) is developed with the support of Stanford University’s Life Design Lab and the Designing Your Life Institute. It empowers learners with creative confidence to explore diverse life paths, rather than being confined to a single, fixed idea of the future.

Inspired by Designing Your Life—a Stanford-originated framework for intentional life planning by Dave Evans and Bill Burnett—and enriched by Personal Futures Thinking, a strategic approach by Verne Wheelwright, DYF offers practical tools to help learners examine their identities, aspirations, and values. Through reflection, experimentation, and action-oriented learning, learners build clarity and direction.

Key topics include:

  • Work View & Life View
  • Coherence
  • Good Time Journaling
  • Reframing Problems
  • Prototyping Conversations

Learners will also engage with deeper concepts such as:

  • Dysfunctional Beliefs
  • Anchor & Gravity Problems
  • Personal Domains
  • Odysseys
  • The Personal Futures Wheel

Many people feel stuck, believing they must have a clear destination. DYF challenges this mindset. It encourages learners to shift from uncertainty to motivation, and from passive reflection to purposeful action.

In an unpredictable world, DYF equips SITizens with resilience, adaptability, and purpose-led decision-making, empowering them to thrive across a lifetime of diverse careers and futures.
