Course Overview
CPD points (SSR) - Pending approval
Due to recent changes in the Modular Certification Pathway in Sonography, we have temporarily paused the acceptance of new candidate applications for this module. This decision has been made to ensure that we can provide the best possible experience for our current learners and make necessary adjustments to improve the programme.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team here.
In this module, you will develop an understanding of a range of musculoskeletal examinations and demonstrate competency in sonography of the shoulder and other musculo-skeletal structures.
The module is offered concurrently with supervised clinical practice to develop competency in musculoskeletal ultrasound. Hybrid instruction mode will be employed which combines didactic classroom teaching sessions with facilitated case-based learning, online learning activities, and practical demonstration.
Topics include principles of musculo-skeletal ultrasound, common indications, protocol and scanning technique of the various upper and lower limb musculo-skeletal structures. You also develop an insight into the role of ultrasound and other supplementary imaging tests (x-rays and MRI) for the diagnosis of musculo-skeletal disease.
Who Should Attend
- Radiographers practising ultrasound
- Healthcare professionals involved in ultrasound work
Prerequisites
Participants must have relevant ultrasound related experience (preferably at least 1 year of working experience as an independent sonographer).
Candidates must have the required access to a medical ultrasound facility to develop competency in the respective clinical applications. They must be actively engaged in supervised ultrasound clinical practice in the workplace for at least three days (or equivalent) per week. It is the candidate's responsibility to secure a supervised clinical arrangement in the workplace. At the end of the trimester, candidates must satisfy the clinical requirements (i.e., compulsory logging of the required number of ultrasound examinations in the clinical portfolio and pass the clinical skills assessment).
