Due to recent changes in the Modular Certification Pathway in Sonography, we have temporarily paused the acceptance of new candidate applications for this module. This decision has been made to ensure that we can provide the best possible experience for our current learners and make necessary adjustments to improve the programme.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team here.

Ultrasound plays a crucial role in the evaluation and management of patients with chronic and systemic diseases of the endocrine system such as thyroiditis and other diseases such as breast cancer which are facing rising incidence as the ageing population grows.

The module is introduced in response to the industry demand and government healthcare policy in expanding capacity in skills upgrading of the current healthcare workforce.

This is a training program that is designed for ultrasound practitioners such as radiographers or sonographers who wish to pursue a postgraduate qualification in ultrasound.

It aims to provide you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in small parts; namely testes and penile, breast, thyroid, parathyroid, lymph nodes, lumps and bumps as well as eyes and thorax ultrasound. At the end of this module, you will be able to recognise the normal and abnormal ultrasound findings and will be guided in the competent production, interpretation, and assessment of these small parts ultrasound images.

Topics will include gross anatomy and physiology, embryology, clinical indications, equipment and patient preparation, techniques and sonographic protocol in the evaluation of breast, thyroid and parathyroid, testis and penile, lymph nodes and salivary glands; and their normal sonographic anatomy and abnormal imaging findings.

Who Should Attend

  • Radiographers practising ultrasound
  • Healthcare professionals involved in ultrasound work
Prerequisites

Participants must have relevant ultrasound related experience (preferably at least 1 year of working experience as an independent sonographer).

Candidates must have the required access to a medical ultrasound facility to develop competency in the respective clinical applications. They must be actively engaged in supervised ultrasound clinical practice in the workplace for at least three days (or equivalent) per week. It is the candidate's responsibility to secure a supervised clinical arrangement in the workplace. At the end of the trimester, candidates must satisfy the clinical requirements (i.e., compulsory logging of the required number of ultrasound examinations in the clinical portfolio and pass the clinical skills assessment).
