Communication Helpdesk
The Communication Helpdesk is the service arm of the Centre for Professional Communication (CPC), offering free consultations to support students with their written assignments, oral presentations, and professional communication needs. Consultations may be provided through one-on-one or small-group tutoring.

Scope of Helpdesk Consultation
Helpdesk consultations can support students with:
Academic Writing
- Purpose and structure of assignments
- Organising content
- Writing clarity and coherence
- Audience awareness
- Reports, essays, reflections, analyses
Presentations & Public Speaking
- Structuring presentations
- Slide clarity and messaging
- Delivery skills and confidence
- Q&A preparation
Professional Communication
Support for real-world communication scenarios, including:
- Networking
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Client interactions
- Negotiation
- Conflict resolution
- Mentorship conversations
What the Helpdesk Does Not Provide
❌ Rewriting, editing, or proofreading of assignments or slides
❌ Appraisal of grades, comments, or marking on student work
❌ Advocacy on behalf of students
❌ Clarification of course content
❌ Guidance on citation formats
Location and Operating Hours
Venue
- All consultations are conducted online via the consultation booking system (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Hangouts).
Operating Hours
The Communication Helpdesk operates on weekdays throughout the trimester, except during:
- Public holidays
- Examination periods
- Trimester breaks

Booking an Appointment
Consultations are 45 minutes long and start on the hour.
Booking Guidelines:
- Students may book up to two sessions per week.
- Please be punctual. A delay of 15 minutes or more may result in forfeiture of the appointment.
- Appointments are non-transferable.
- Sending a proxy to attend on your behalf is not permitted.
Missed Appointments & Late Cancellations
- Cancellations must be made at least 3 hours before the scheduled appointment via the booking system. •
- For last-minute cancellations, email: CPC@SingaporeTech.edu.sg
- If you are more than 10 minutes late without prior notice, your appointment will be marked as missed.
- After three missed appointments, your booking privileges will be temporarily blocked. Please contact the Helpdesk to reinstate access.
