Sustainability Talent Development

We nurture students who can be a force for good in the community. The undergraduate Pre-Employment Training (PET) as well as Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes will equip them with in-demand sustainability skills for industry.

Embedding Sustainability across Undergraduate Programmes

In SIT, sustainability education is being integrated throughout our curriculum across academic disciplines, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skillsets to create a more sustainable future.

Since the Academic Year 2022, we have introduced a compulsory micro-module for all undergraduate students in SIT and joint degree programmes.

This micro-module is designed to introduce students to key concepts of sustainability, including the definition, importance, multi-disciplinary nature, and actions of sustainable development. This allows students to have a critical sustainability perspective for all modules that they will take in SIT, including university-wide modules such as Social Innovation Project and Design Innovation, and discipline-specific modules such as the Capstone.

Notably, the learning of sustainability-related knowledge and skillsets is embedded in relevant modules across SIT.

For students who want to deepen their knowledge about sustainability, SIT also offers a Minor in Environmental Sustainability for selected programmes.

The Minor includes discipline-specific modules, as well as sustainability core modules which cover a variety of topics, such as life cycle assessment, sustainability reporting, and green financing. Students will apply their sustainability knowledge and skillsets in a project. In addition, students are required to participate in sustainability activities as part of their educational experience.
