Using Immersive Learning for Developing Surface Anatomy Palpation Competency Among Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy Students

Grant Name
Applied Learning and Innovation Grant (ALIGN)

Abstract

Accurate diagnosis is the most important step in patient treatment planning. Physiotherapy students must be able to palpate the correct muscle and give the patient clear instructions on particular movements to test the function and efficiency of that muscle. Currently, our 1st year physiotherapy students are usually having trouble with developing these skills and demonstrating it during practical sessions. This project aims to create interactive immersive learning materials using 360 videos and 3D which the students will be able to use to change the angle of viewing to clearly observe how the fingertips of the instructor assess the various muscle and anatomical structures of the body.
