Use of virtual tools to enhance teaching of complex flow behavior in wind tunnel study

Grant Name
SIT Advancement for Learning and Teaching (SALT)

Abstract

The use of virtual tools to enhance teaching and learning has been increasingly explored in recent years. Used to keep students engaged while at the same time stimulate their learning, virtual tools have seemingly been integrated with conventional teaching pedagogies. The project aims to extend current teaching tools used in a core engineering module, where students have to understand fundamental flow behaviours over a bluff body. The module is currently taught as Theoretical (concepts covered in lectures), Experimental (in labs) and Computational (modelling), and the project aims to introduce a ‘fourth’ dimension to develop a futuristic, engaging, interactive and conducive pedagogically driven learning environment to SIT students.
