Learning, unlearning and relearning in two professions

Grant Name
SIT Advancement for Learning and Teaching (SALT)

Abstract

This project intends to provide a long-term perspective on the skills used by professionals as they progress through their careers, and the means by which they acquire these skills. By surveying practicing professionals at different stages in their careers, we hope to inform:

  1. how SIT can best prepare students for careers that may last for several decades after graduation
  2. what SIT can offer experienced professionals looking to progress their careers.

The initial focus will be on software and accounting professionals, but it is hoped that the methodology developed can be applied to other disciplines at SIT.
