Enhancing Teaching and Learning of Evidence Based Practice via Game-based Learning

Grant Name
Applied Learning and Innovation Grant (ALIGN)

Abstract

The current teaching and learning approach of the evidence-based practice (EBP) module for the Singapore Institute of Technology-University of Glasgow (SIT-UofG) nursing programme undertakes a blended learning approach with face to face, online, e-learning for the lectures and face to face and workshops for the seminars. However, the approach remains didactic. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges and opportunities in the teaching delivery where changing community alert measures have classes moving from face to face to online and then back to face to face again. The aim of this project is to describe the development and evaluation of an innovative teaching strategy to evaluate student satisfaction, level of engagement and overall achievement of the learning outcomes via the gamification of teaching and learning of EBP.
