Development of case study module for Food Technology programme

Grant Name
SIT Advancement for Learning and Teaching (SALT)

Abstract

This project aims to develop a module on food regulations in the Food Technology programme at SIT using case study as the pedagogical mode of instruction. The use of case study as the method of instruction has been shown to be an effective way of delivering students’ learning, especially for such a module.

The case study method approach is one in which students are expected to apply their knowledge to solve real-life problems. It is an effective way to integrate theory to practice. This is apt for learning food regulations where students are exposed to real-life regulatory problems faced by the industry, and they will be expected to be able to analyse the problem and come up with the best possible solution.
