Abstract

This is an exploratory study of the use of common English expressions, such as idioms and catchphrases, in the Accountancy workplace context. The study will involve teaching of English expressions such as common idioms, proverbs and catchphrases to ACC2008 students with the aim of equipping them with the sociolinguistic skills required to engage in effective communication at the workplace.

The ACC2008 module, also known as the Management Accounting and Control, spans 12 weeks and is taken by Year 2 students enrolled in the SIT Accountancy Degree programme.
