Upper Limb Plain Film Radiography for Occupational Therapists

Hwei Lan is currently a senior lecturer in SIT. She has more than 15 years of experience educating occupational therapy students about hand and upper limb rehabilitation. She has always enjoyed working with clients to enable them to participate in life again when hand injuries affect their daily activities, in both public and private clinical settings. Hwei Lan is also involved in teaching the application of social therapeutic horticulture as a meaningful occupation in community rehabilitation settings.

Her current research interests are in how assistive technology (specifically smartphones and apps) promotes independence and quality of life for people with vision impairment. She hopes to extend her research in investigating health and wellness for people with vision impairment in the future.

Outside of work, Hwei Lan volunteers with Guide Dogs Singapore, and enjoys exercising and dancing Argentine tango, minus the stalk of rose or flicking her head.

Joanne started her career as a diagnostic radiographer after obtaining the Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography with Merit from Nanyang Polytechnic in 1996. She has 16 years of clinical experience in multiple imaging modalities as an AHPC-certified diagnostic radiographer in the private hospitals and public healthcare institutions of Singapore. In between her clinical positions, Joanne has been involved as an educator for undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Institute of Technology for 11 years. Her keen interest in clinical education has motivated Joanne to be dedicated to learner’s success with an approachable personality, earning her the Teaching and Achievement Learning Award in 2016 from Nanyang Polytechnic.

As a supporter for continuous professional development and lifelong learning, Joanne acquires her post-graduate knowledge via part-time studies. For instance, she graduated with the Advanced Diploma in Sonography in 2012 from Nanyang Polytechnic, achieved the Masters in Health Sciences (Medical Radiation Sciences) in 2015 from The University of Sydney and attended a module on Introduction to Artificial Intelligence for Radiographers in 2022 at City, University of London.

Joanne is currently the Modality Section Leader for General Radiography and Mammography at Woodlands Health, Department of Radiology.

Hafiz has 11 years of experience in the Radiography field and is currently a Lead Sales Specialist at a HealthTech Company.

Prior, he was a Radiographer at Changi General Hospital where he specialised in MRI modality and radiographic image interpretation. He was also a Clinical Educator for SIT, Nanyang Polytechnic, and Parkway College and gave the radiography students their first exposure to Radiographic image interpretation.
