The IWSP provides an authentic experience and timely exposure for students to prepare them for the demands of today’s workforce. We have received students from SIT since 2019 who have worked with our IT team on several projects while providing essential daily support to other business functions. The students possessed strong abilities, demonstrating initiative and drive during their internship. We are pleased with their contributions and will certainly welcome suitable candidates to return for permanent employment at Go-Ahead Singapore.
In recognising the role that technology, robotics and automation play in delivering the demand for more efficient and effective logistics, SIT has proven to showcase their students with ready knowledge and in-demand skill sets into the industry. These future-ready young talents will continue to embark on new challenges, boosting Singapore’s digitalisation culture. YCH is glad and will continue to provide SIT students with opportunities to gain relevant experiences in the work environment.
The SIT curriculum is developed with a strong focus on equipping our future talent with a well-rounded engineering capability and expertise to become industry- and future-ready. In addition, our partnership with SIT will provide students with an opportunity to gain the much-needed hands-on experience and invaluable exposure in the exciting engineering work environment.
At IFSC, we see the IWSP as an investment for the future. The programme serves to train budding professionals and leaders who will be the foundation of tomorrow’s society. The students we’ve hired come with a clear understanding of their expectations, which guides them on their journey in the industry. By the end of the work attachment, students are more prepared for the real world and are often offered positions when they graduate. To date, we have hired two full-time staff and are looking forward to having more well-trained, industry-ready SIT graduates join the IFSC family.
Initially, I had difficulties adapting to the rigorous university curriculum, but my professors were very approachable and helpful, ensuring that we were coping well. Lessons in SIT are taught in an applied learning environment, that are peppered with guest lectures by industry professionals, who provide tips to help students become industry-ready.
