Wai Kuan Loh

Biography

Dr Loh Wai Kuan holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. He brings over 25 years of industry experience gained with Emerson Control Techniques, where he led and contributed to industrial drives and automation projects across a wide range of sectors, including metals, steel, paper, plastics, elevators, port cranes, oil and gas, and water treatment industries. 

His technical expertise encompasses AC and DC drives, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. He has also been actively involved in the design and commissioning of grid-connected megawatt-scale solar power plants. 

Dr. Loh spent more than five years with the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N), where he focused on advanced power and energy technologies. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he serves as a consultant to a flow battery manufacturer and a marine vessel electrification company, contributing his expertise to the development of sustainable energy and electrification solutions.
