Biography
So Sin is currently teaching in the occupational therapy programe at Singapore Institute of Technology, Health and Social Science cluster. She was teaching in the Monash University Occupational Therapy program from 2017-2023 in Melbourne. Currently, she is appointed as an Adjunct Research Fellow at Monash University.
So Sin’s PhD was a mixed methods study on the occupations and well-being of ethnic Chinese mothers of children with disabilities. Her research interest includes maternal and child mental health, mother child co-occupation, family-centred practice, community mental health, post-traumatic growth, disaster mental health, relationships between participation and well-being, and the use of psychodynamic perspectives in occupational therapy and groupwork. She has published papers in the area of occupations of mothers and disaster mental health.
So Sin graduated from St Loye's School of Occupational Therapy, Exeter, UK in 1998. She has 15 years of clinical experience in Singapore, particularly in the field of mental health and has worked across acute, rehab and community mental health settings, before moving on to teach at the occupational therapy program at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), Singapore from 2012-2017. She has worked in specialized areas such as early psychosis intervention program, post-traumatic stress disorder program, liaison psychiatry, addictions and disaster mental health.
So Sin was also the associate faculty and lecturer in the counselling course in Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), previously under Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) from 2009-2017. She has also designed a blended learning course for SUSS in 2017.
