Profile
Biography
“Education is the act or process of generating or acquiring information and processing that information—i.e., learning—to generate experience and gain direction on how to apply this experience to solve problems. Experience, also referred to as processed information, encompasses knowledge, understanding, and skills.” – Dr. Moshood Olawale Fadeyi.”
Dr. Moshood Olawale Fadeyi is an Associate Professor at the Singapore Institute of Technology with specialisation in indoor air quality and sustainable building engineering communication practice. He is an architect, a Chartered Engineer (UK), and a Chartered Construction Manager (UK), with over 200 publications, including peer-reviewed research and peer-level public scholarship. He is a pioneering scholar in the use of communication practice to advance engineering education through mental model development, question generation, cognitive transformation, and conceptual understanding for practical problem-solving.
Dr. Fadeyi uses research to guide his teaching and teaching to inform his research. His work transforms how people think, learn, and solve problems in the real world. Through communication practice in engineering education, he bridges the cognitive gap between knowing and doing, equipping individuals to create value, drive innovation, and advance human capability.
His research develops innovative and interdisciplinary communication solutions that enhance cognitive abilities and make complex engineering topics, such as indoor air quality and sustainable building engineering, accessible to diverse learners. His communication solutions invite the reader into a process of active mental engagement, where understanding is gradually constructed through attention, reflection, and curiosity. His peer-level research outputs reflect deeply grounded forms of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), benefiting individuals in academia, industry, and the wider community across more than 100 countries.
Through the expression of critical and reflective thinking, abstract reasoning, logical deduction, and creative imagination, Dr. Fadeyi advances engineering education and practice in a value-oriented manner. He has mentored undergraduate and graduate learners, as well as industry professionals, contributing to the development of real-world problem-solving capabilities in various contexts.
He holds a multifaceted academic background in architecture (BSc, M.Arch), building science (MSc), and engineering (PhD), with degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University (Nigeria), the National University of Singapore, and the Technical University of Denmark. Dr. Fadeyi is a member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (UK), the Chartered Institute of Building (UK), and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers. He is also a former National Taekwondo Champion in Singapore, reflecting his commitment to excellence across disciplines.
