What Is CORT?

The proliferation of digital technologies has influenced the students we teach and provided new opportunities for learning, both in class and remotely. Watch the video to learn how the CORT initiative helps to ensure you have the know-how to engage in online and remote teaching.

What Are CORT Competencies?

The CORT competencies are mapped against the four core aspects of teaching – lesson design, lesson delivery, student engagement, and assessment. You will hence be assessed on your ability to do the following:

  1. Create an online video lesson
  2. Conduct a synchronous (live) online lesson
  3. Conduct an asynchronous online discussion
  4. Conduct online assessment and give feedback online

Demonstrating CORT Competencies

All full-time and joint appointment SIT faculty members are required to submit artefacts that demonstrate each competency. These could be in the form of a quiz, a discussion forum, or a recording of a live online lesson.

Create new artefacts for submission

Take this opportunity to design and produce materials and activities for upcoming classes. You can browse our inventory of digital tools for CORT and teach yourself to use them with the help of self-learning guides.

Submit past artefacts

If you have artefacts from past or current modules that correspond to the competencies, you may submit these for assessment.

Have You Completed CORT?

About two to three weeks after submission, you can check your CORT completion status here (login to xSiTe (LMS) required).

We highly recommend that you complete CORT within one year of joining SIT. This will ensure you have the basic know-how to utilise education technology for your teaching.
