University Engineering Scholarship

The University Engineering Scholarship (UES) is open to Polytechnic Diploma holders from Singapore to pursue full-time undergraduate programmes at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). 

NTU is the appointed Secretariat for the UES in 2018. 

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is open to the following: 

  • Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents who are polytechnic diploma holders (preferably with Certificate of Merit). 
  • Commencing their undergraduate studies in AY2018. 
  • Enrolled in full-time Engineering/Computing courses at one of the following Autonomous Universities: 
    • National University of Singapore
    • Nanyang Technological University 
    • Singapore Institute of Technology
    • Singapore University of Technology and Design

Selection for the Scholarship is based on merit. 

Benefits of Award

The scholarship covers the following:

  • Full coverage of Tuition Fees payable by students (after MOE Tuition Grant).
  • Living allowance of S$5,800 per annum.
  • One-time computer allowance of S$2,000.

Terms and Conditions of Award

  • The scholarship is tenable for the normal duration of the undergraduate course at one of the Autonomous Universities listed above. 
  • Recipients of the scholarship (Scholars) are required to serve a four-year bond working in an Engineering-related field in Singapore immediately upon completion of their programme. 
  • Scholars may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary, grant, award or allowance without prior approval from the University (except for LKY-STEP Award). 
  • The scholarship will be monitored and renewed every semester provided the Scholar maintains a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.5 (or equivalent) and good conduct. The Scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of the University, the scholarship holder's progress or conduct has not been satisfactory. ​Scholars whose scholarships are terminated by the Ministry of Education (MOE) because of unsatisfactory performancewill generally not be required to pay liquidated damages. MOE will decide on liquidated damages payable by the scholarship holder in such circumstances, if any, on a case-by-case basis. 
  • If the Scholar decides to withdraw from the University and/or terminate the scholarship prematurely, the University reserves the right to impose repayment of all scholarship monies disbursed to the scholar (liquidated damages including the amount received by the scholarship holder from the commencement of scholarship till its termination plus 10% compounded interest).
