Academic Workload and Maximum Candidature

Academic Workload

Students pursuing programme of study offered by Overseas Universities (OUs)

In order to complete the degree requirements within the normal period of candidature for a programme, full-time undergraduate students are advised to follow the allocated academic load (normally 4 to 7 modules per semester) specified for the programme. Students who are unable to follow the allocated academic load per semester may exceed the normal candidature period of study. The maximum candidature for a programme is the normal candidature plus 2 years. Students who exceed the normal candidature period will be subjected to the fees specified in the table under maximum candidature below.

Students who seek to read more or less than the allocated academic load must obtain approval from the respective OUs via SIT in writing to Registrar@SingaporeTech.edu.sg.

Students pursuing programme of study offered by SIT

The following table shows the normal academic load for each degree programme under SIT. Students are strongly encouraged to follow this academic load closely. Students who wish to overload in an upcoming trimester should seek advice from their Academic Advisor/Programme Director before the Academic Overloading request period. Registration for additional modules will only be possible after the Academic Advisor/Programme Director has approved the request. There is no guarantee on placement as this will depend on available vacancy after providing for students taking the same modules under normal academic load.
