Disability Support

 1. Access to Campus Facilities

 2. Academic and Examination Arrangements

The Student Care team is committed to provide students the opportunity to participate in the rich and diverse life here in SIT. We assist students with disabilities in attaining equal access to academic programmes, extracurricular activities, and facilities on campus. We seek to provide services and support that promote educational equality for students with disabilities.

The Student Care team works with faculty and students to arrange appropriate academic support for students with special needs. Students who like to request for support or have any questions about disability services can contact our Student Care Officer or our Student Care Admin Support.

Academic and Examination Arrangements

Students are required to inform and declare any medication conditions/disabilities to the Registrar’s Office upon matriculation, prior to commencement of the first semester so that SIT can work with students to prepare the necessary arrangements so as to optimise students’ learning experience.

Special arrangements can also be made for students whose performance during an examination might be affected due to unforeseen circumstances or special medical conditions (e.g. require large prints for exam question paper).  A possible example could be sustaining an injury due to an accident that affects the student’s ability to write properly.  Students are required to inform Registrar’s Office immediately with medical proof from a registered physician or hospital.  Registrar’s Office will determine if special arrangements are required for the student on the basis of the documentary proof.

Registrar’s Office will make special arrangements for students with medical conditions. Below are a few examples:-

  • Printed copy of the examination announcements to be issued to hearing-impaired students.
  • Physically-impaired students are allowed to enter the examination hall before the rest of the students. They will be seated at the front of the examination hall.
  • Students with medical conditions such as dyslexia may be granted extra writing time during their examinations
  • Laptop and printer will be provided for students with writing difficulties.
